Roman civilization’s ruins in Libya.

without comments

649705885_701fa99ee9.jpgThe Roman civilization’s coverage before was vast. It extended its reign over Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa, and because of this, some infrastructures of the great empire were built all over—and Libya isn’t exempted on that list. The Leptis Magna found in Al Khums, entered the UNESCO World Heritage in 1982, and it has drawn so many visitors due to the fact that the infrastructures that the Romans built had been preserved at almost 80% its original state. The bathrooms are almost intact (although some chipped off already), the theatre still pretty looks the same, and the pillars of the marketplace still stand until today.Photo taken from http://www.flickr.com

Getting to Timbuktu

without comments

Timbuktu

We often here this cliché from words and expressions. But if you mention it in African soil, they will direct you towards it. It is situated in central Mali, West Africa and you are bound to find this lone structure in the middle of nowhere.

You have several options of getting there and apparently the best way would be by boat. You can also try it out by plane which can be faster as boat rides can take a couple of days.

But before you think of Timbuktu, find out how to get there. Apparently you still have to pass by Bamako so that you can see the major trading depot for the caravans of the Sahara Desert of old.

Mabuto, Mozambique

25.jpg

Mabuto is Mozambique’s capital. a Charming city only 50 km from South Africa, it’s Portuguese influence can be seen in its streets and architecture. Acacia-lined avenues lead to modern, tall buildings that overlook the ocean. The markets are great place to window shop and buy, and the restaurants offer continental dishes like no other in the world. Up the coast in the city of Inhambane are many secluded, white-sand beaches that can only be reached by four wheel drive. The ocean in the area is a safe place for snorkellers and swimmers. Tourists and travelers will definitely be tempted to spend a long time in the laid-back atmosphere and enjoy the tropical sun and plentiful seafood.
