Visit the Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya’s premier wildlife park. Masai Mara was established in 1961 to keep the wildlife safe from hunters and is the main reason why many travelers from around the world visit Kenya. It is located in south west Kenya, near the border of Tanzania and is home to crocodiles and hippos, making the migration of wildebeest and zebras a dangerous undertaking. You’ll also definitely see the big five – lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and the cape buffalo – as well as giraffes, hyenas, baboons, cheetahs, and more. The best time to visit Masai Mara is between July and October where wildebeest and zebra are at their plentiest – which means a lot of game for lions and leopards.
